Pam is Head of Academies at Bishop Fleming, and Chair of Kreston’s Academies Group.
She prides herself on working in an open and approachable manner and strongly believes that clients should feel comfortable to contact her with any query or concern they may have.
She is a Trustee of Ivybridge Academy Trust and Chair of the Audit Committee, so has real knowledge of the inside workings of multi-academy trusts. She is currently involved in advising on the strategic plans at Ivybridge which has included reviewing the legal structure and governance model to ensure it is fit for purpose and will enable the academy to fulfil its ambitions. She has also advised clients in dealings with the EFA which includes technical and governance matters.
Pam has been instrumental in developing the Bishop Fleming approach to the academy sector and is seen as an expert by clients, the Education Funding Agency and the ICAEW. She has advised a number of academies through the conversion process, including multi-academy trusts. This includes advising on the governance and taxation implications on becoming a charity.
Pam advises Trustees, Governors, audit committees and the accounting officer on their roles and responsibilities. She has developed the Bishop Fleming approach to the Responsible Officer tests and the internal audit requirements as prescribed in the academies financial handbook.
Pam runs our charity and academy forums which cover a range of topical matters. She also presents at academy and charity seminars including the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and most recently at the Browne Jacobson SW Education Conference.
Pam delivers a range of bespoke Governor and Trustee training and acts as a sounding board for the finance team. She actively keeps her clients up to date on changes in regulation and best practice using regular e-mail contact, tweets and blogs.
